Robsoniana

The surname Robson is very common in the North-East of England.

According to Trevelyan's "English Social History", the Robsons were one of several lawless tribes living in North Tynedale in the times of the Tudors.

The surname also occurs in Scotland, where it is listed as a "sept" (subsidiary clan) to the Clan Gunn.

The Clan Gunn originates from Sutherland in the far North of Scotland, and may be descendents of Norwegian (Viking) invaders.

The Robson coat of arms was granted to a Robson living in southern Scotland near the Border area. He seems to have been fond of boars' heads.

Some Robsons pursue lawful trades in the family homeland, however!
